Tackle Football

Program Overview

Our AYF Tackle Football Program is designed to teach athletes the fundamentals of tackle football in a structured, competitive, and safety-first environment. Following American Youth Football (AYF) rules and guidelines, the program emphasizes proper technique, teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. This program supports players of all experience levels—from first-time tackle athletes to those preparing for middle school football—while prioritizing player development and long-term success.

Age Divisions

Teams are organized according to AYF age-based divisions to promote fair competition and player safety.

Typical divisions may include:

  • 7U and 8U Tackle Football – Continued skill development and controlled contact.  This level is instructional and will not keep score.
  • 9U - 14U Tackle Football – Competitive Football - Expanded playbooks and positional responsibilities. Advanced fundamentals and preparation for high school football.

Final division placement is determined by AYF certification, and roster sizes.

Player Development Philosophy

Our philosophy is rooted in development over wins and losses. Coaches focus on:

  • Teaching proper blocking and tackling techniques
  • Building football IQ and positional understanding
  • Ensuring meaningful playing time for all athletes
  • Developing confidence, accountability, and teamwork

Practices and games are structured to align with AYF standards and age-appropriate expectations.

Coaching & Volunteers

All teams are led by certified volunteer coaches who are committed to providing a positive and instructional experience.

AYF coaching requirements include:

  • Background checks
  • Completion of required AYF coaching certifications and trainings
  • Compliance with AYF rules, safety protocols, and codes of conduct
  • Interview conducted with President and Board Members.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to volunteer as coaches, team parents, or support staff.

Practice & Game Schedule

  • Practices: Typically held 4 times per week
  • Games: Played on weekends, most often Saturday night and Sunday

Practice schedules, locations, and game calendars will be shared once teams are formed and certified. Adjustments may occur due to weather, field availability, or league coordination.
